Animal Park in Basel
We went to an animal park in Basel, Switzerland which was really cool & big. We saw almost all the animals at the park. There were a few that were hiding though, such as the fox and the lynx. There was supposed to be a cat but it was not in the cage that was labeled for it. I don’t think it was a housecat, but all the labels were in German, so we couldn’t read the name or description.
Some of the animals we saw were swans. There were both black and white swans. I’ve never seen black swans in person before! There were also chickens, two types of hens and a rooster. I also saw goats; there was a goat fight breaking out and the old wise goat made it stop. Baby goats were sleeping next to their mother. I saw a lot of fish in all the ponds in the various enclosures. There were two sleeping pigs, one (maybe the male) playing in a lake. Baby pigs were sleeping in two piles. A peacock and a peafowl were not in their cages, so they were wandering around the park! We saw donkeys, including donkeys wearing pants. There were even GUINEA PIGS. One ran to the side of the cage and wanted us to give her food and another was at the top in a log and looked like a lion. They made me miss my own guinea pigs. We also saw buffalos, ducks, lizards, mice that were not even just food for the others. Finally there were owls; one turned its head around when Owen tried to take a picture of it!
At the end we each got one scoop of ice cream on a cone from a cart. I got chocolate, Mom got mocha, Dad stracciatella, which is like chocolate chip, and Owen got banana. It was delicious! Overall it was a fun afternoon in Basel.
