Madrid
Madrid
We went to Madrid for two days because it was Owen's birthday and he wanted to go. The train ride was two hours long from the new Valencia station, so not that bad. I spent the time watching Netflix and doing math. We arrived in Madrid at around 12:30.
We checked in at the hotel which was pretty cool. We were all hungry so after half an hour of just hanging out we tried to find a mexican restaurant because we all like tacos 🌮. I had dos quesadillas. They were quite good dad and Owen had five mini tacos each and we got two bowls of nachos, one with cheese and the other with guacamole, which was amazing. After that we grabbed our raincoats and sweatshirts and went exploring.
There were so many Christmas decorations and also a lot of Statues of Doña Margarita Maria of Austria inspired by the painting Las Meninas by the artist Diego Velázquez (it is in the Prado Museum which we went into and saw the painting.) My mom really liked the statues. It started to pour on us and we had to take cover in a churro place that had really good chocolate.
I had wet uncomfortable socks and a very terrible rain coat. But we made it back to the hotel and got Owen a Spain soccer jersey on the way. For dinner we all got pizza at a place across the street. It was really good.
The next day we went to try and find the Las Meninas statues. We found way more than I thought we would. There were approximately ten on one street.
We were also trying to find a place to watch the Spain vs Costa Rica world cup game. We found a place near our hotel so it was easy to get to and we got good seats. Spain won seven-nothing so everyone was celebrating. So overall Madrid was fun and I would go back.
